Alessandro Monti is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Law. His postdoctoral research examines challenges and opportunities to enhance climate action through international trade and investment law, with a specific focus on the promotion of renewable energy. In 2021, Alessandro completed his PhD (double degree), at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and Padova (Italy). For his doctoral thesis, The Mutual Supportiveness of International Climate and Trade Law for the Promotion of Renewable Energy (forthcoming 2022), he has been awarded the Herbert Tumpel prize by the Austrian Theodor Körner-Fonds. Prior to his PhD, he obtained a Master in law (Magister iuris) at the University of Innsbruck and he worked as judicial clerk at the Court of Innsbruck, and as an assistant attorney in two Italian law firms. Since 2018, he is an attorney-at-law admitted to the Italian bar.
